♥mdtaylorlrim
I really need to be able to do credit card transactions but would like to stay away from payment services such as paypal if possible.. Excellent idea, but it is really determined by your clientele. Paypal is great for these role playing games where you purchase game credits or virtual currency or weapons, etc. But it sounds like your customer base are real people that use plastic. If you are doing this for a storefront, are they taking credit cards? I would either use their account and dump the money into their hands to avoid an accounting nightmare and tax problems, or utilize a credit card processing company that already has a custom configured payment module that works with osCommerce. My preference, and what I am doing, is they get the money into their account. I get paid uh, in other ways... but I don't have to handle any money, pay any sales taxes, or account for anything. My time is too valuable for that. Community Bootstrap Edition, Edge Avoid the most asked question. See How to Secure My Site and How do I...? Guest
Jim, Payment options depend on how your customer conducts their business. 1) PayPal offers customers an array of payment options, including credit cards, debit accounts and a PayPal account at a competitive fee rate. This is why PayPal is popular. 2) Authorize.net offers credit card processing services at competitive rates. 3) You can install a credit card module and accept credit cards directly on the website and process them manually using the clients existing merchant account and machine to enter the transaction manually. So, again the best way to accept payment is solely up to the client. Chris
pateo
The shop is retail. Chris is option 3 considered secure? If so what module do I need? Pateo
Guest
Jim, Yes, it has a certain level of security because only half the credit card numbers are stored in the database, the other half is emailed to you along with the expiry date and in some cases the CVV (depending on which contribution you install) Chris
pateo
Is there one you would recommend ? Pateo
Guest
Jim, No, not really. You would have to search the contributions to see which best suits your needs. I have used a couple, some needed modifications to work properly but check them and see what you like. Chris
pateo
Any other suggestions? They really need to be able to complete the orders manually as sometimes stock may not be available which will impact the order and what is charged.. Thanks pateo
