brotherleeroy
For a number of reasons I created an index.html page for my client's website that redirects to the index.php page for the OSCommerce site. I assume that the search engines "see" the meta tags contained in the html page. Is this assumption right? Is there an ~easy~ way to add meta tags (description, key words) to the index.php page in OSCommerce? Thanks
Jack_mcs
If you are redirecting using html code, that is a mistake and can prevent the site from being listed. Even if the search engines record the title and tags, which I doubt, assuming that type of redirection, it won't do you any good since it is the page they end up on that matters. If you just want to redirect automatically, it should be done with code in the .htaccess file. Many hosts have control panels that will allow the redirection to be setup from there. Adding meta tags for an oscommerce shop is best handled by using one of the meta tags contributions. You can add them manually to the index.php file but that is not hardly worth the effort. As far as an easy way to add meta tags, most of the meta tags contributions are simple to install. The exception is Header Tags SEO. If you just want and easy way to add meta tags, without much benefit, go with one of the easy ones. If you want to help the site in the search engine listings, use Header Tags SEO.
