split Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I'm looking for a Payment Gateway which will handle all the CC processing and deal with PCI and security issues. Paypal and Google Checkout look like good options, except that they require a customer to have an account or create an account. Are there other, just as reputable, options which have comparable fees structures, that do not require an account?

If this is enabled, customers are not forced to create a PayPal account during checkout.
♥mdtaylorlrim Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I would never purchase anything from a shop that only uses Paypal, Google, or Amazon checkout. I want a real processing company. One whose primary business is credit card processing, not auctions, search engines, or books. Find you a real credit card processor. You can keep the Paypals and Googles as secondary payment processors. IMHO, a site that only uses Paypal or Google reeks of teenagers running a store out of the computers at the school library. Sorry. Just my opinion. Community Bootstrap Edition, Edge Avoid the most asked question. See How to Secure My Site and How do I...?
split Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 IMHO, a site that only uses Paypal or Google reeks of teenagers running a store out of the computers at the school library. I do appreciate your perspective. I have actually been an ecommerce vendor since the mid 90's. One of the first in my industry to have a web business. Back then I created all the coding myself. I had a direct connect to authorize.net and everything was handled on my site. It was a pain back then, but it worked. However I would say it was hardly secure. Now with these new requirements such as PCI, I would just rather avoid the potential effort of putting this together and maintaining it, and just focus on the business. To that end, if I can use Paypal and customize the processing page to appear more integrated into my sites theme, and optionally avoid forcing an account to be created, I would just rather go that route.
tigergirl Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 If you are UK based you may wish to consider Sage Pay (formerly Protx). There are 3 modules for OSC - Form, Server, Direct. Using Form or Server removes a lot of the PCI DSS compliance issues for site owners as payments are processed on Sage systems. You will need an internet merchant account and business bank account as well. So there are a lot of things to set in place first of all. Some merchant account providers are very strict with websites PCI DSS compliance. I use Server but there are still a lot of customers persist in using Paypal which I hadn't considered so I still offer the option of paypal. Of course I am too scared to switch off paypal in case I lose customers (even though I hate paypal and the crap customer experience from them). I'm feeling lucky today......maybe someone will answer my post! I do try and answer a simple post when I can just to give something back. ------------------------------------------------ PM me? - I'm not for hire
web-project Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Moneybookers require to have account unless you contact the Moneybookers to upgrade account to accept the credit/debit cards. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.
