Removing Language and Currency Boxes

Hello all, first post here.

 

I am putting together my first store, and have searched high and low for removing the Language and Currency Boxes. Many have said to remove/comment out the appropriate code from either the left or the right columns. On my template, the boxes are on the top rather than one of the columns.

 

I've tried commenting out some code from application_top.php and ended up either making no changes, fatal errors, etc.

 

I'm using 2.2 RC2

I dont remember any boxes at the top. Have a look in includes/header.php
