osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Linking my existing product db

My web host installed oscommerce for me through the cPanel.

Now I'm trying to upload my existing products DB/Table to oscommerce, and I can't seem to figure it out. I didn't have any options to do so in my admin. I'm a novice to this, some sql ability, and some php, not much though. Any assistance would be appreciated.

An unmodified install of OSC only allows you to add products one at a time.

If you download the contribution "Easy Populate" you can upload a CSV spreadsheet of all your products.

Bascially, you need to make a spreadsheet.

EDIT.... Sorry, I think its a tab delimited spreadsheet.

Thank you! I already have a CSV so that will work. Does it have to be in a specific format? As in columns? Or will the Easy populate explain all of the for me?

Yes, it does need specific column headers, though these only correspond to your database ie, custom columns can be added to match your database requirements.

Have a look through the readme of Easy Populate.... attributes are the only downfall. I personally add them using the admin side of OSC. Ive done two websites with OSC and both have a spreadsheet with nearly a million cells.... I kid you not! Hence it being easier to use the admin side for attributes.

For oscommerce You need to install easy populate.

Then create Your csv as per the easy populate format and load it.
