Need help with fallback to orig Admin panel

Installed an add-on for an Admin panel template. Since I dont really know what to do or how to do it, I must have screwed up the installation because after installing, I got several HTML error messages when I tried to log out. I stressed out because I didnt know how to interpret the error messages so I then replaced the original code for each of the affected files, as described by the author, in the Install file. But apparently some other file has been affected that I can not find. I have my original v2.2 rc2 Admin panel but I can not update anything...I can only view the categories in the Admin panel. Delete buttons, Update buttons, add new folder buttons, add new product buttons...All gone!

I need to fallback completely so I downloaded v2.2 to my hard drive but need instructions on how to fallback just the Admin section. Also, will I have to completely reload my products? I did a database backup before installing add-on but apparently now I realize maybe I was supposed to backup my entire files? I dont know how to do that. I just copied the affected files into notepad...if theres another better way, please let me know.

Please dont tell me to contact the author of the add-on....been there, done that...no response.

I truly dont know what to do next...Im stumped!

Jackie,

If you have NO contributions installed on the shop (which seems unlikely) you can upload the contents of the Admin folder (from a newly downloaded 2.2.zip) MINUS the configure.php file. This would restore your admin panel.

Thank you Chris! How do I do that exactly? I have already downloaded v2.2 to my hard drive but dont know how to replace the files other than copy paste. Is this the correct way to do it?

Jackie,

Use your FTP program to upload them to your server. This will OVER-WRITE the files already there, so ensure this is what you want to do.

Thanks again Chris...by ftp do you mean from my CPanel? In overwriting, will I lose my Banner on my website or does Admin panel even affect the shop itself? Hate being a pest but I want to make sure I fully understand what to do.

Jackie,

FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

Direct access to your host without going through your cpanel. With FTP, you can upload an entire store relatively quick (less than 10 minutes usually)

Uploading admin replacement files will not effect your customers view of the cart........UNLESS, you have contributions installed. IF YOU DO, I would not suggest making these corrections yourself. Seek more experienced help.

Chris,

You have been a true blessing! Actually I just hired a developer 10 minutes ago because I cant deal with it anymore. Unfortunately she cant work on it until Tuesday so I am at a standstill until then. I dont understand any of this so it will be worth the cost to me. I truly appreciate your help though. I hope there are more folks like you out there!

Hi Chris...one more note. As I was going through all of the Admin panels to print a copy of my settings, I saw this buried on Payment Module page "Sofortberweisung Webseite besuchen" It seems to be an autoinstaller for the template that I tried to install that started this whole mess. Hadn't seen it before so I'm going to delete it to see if that takes care of the problem.

Thanks again! Just wanted to tell you what I found. No response required unless you want to...smile.
