Adding a field to catalog and admin

Hi all

 

I want to add a field to my shop but dont know how.

 

I want to be able to use the image number (all my pics have a number) next to the model number on the front end and back end.

 

Is there a plug in for this, or do I need to find somebody that knows how to use php to perform this.
