should I use attributes or something else?

Hi all,

 

I am trying to get a site working which I would need to allow people to buy a 'base' product then add on to it various other items. I would like it to work in a similar way to this website:-

There are a couple of things which I want to do:

 

1) give the customer repeatability of orders without going through the whole process again (maybe I could do this manually at the start by adding 'complete products' under certain codes?)

2) allow the customer to chop and change the additional items

 

please could someone give me some guidance as to the best way forward here?
