jigga1234 Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Hi have been trying to work this out for some time. We offer free shipping with all orders over £100 on our website and although we display this in our header on every page in our shipping.php and also when people get to checkout I still get quite a few customers contacting me to say they thought everything was free shipping and didnt realise it only applied to purchases over £100. Is it possible to add something to the checkout which would do the following. Using and example of someone purchasing £X product. When you get to the select shipping option could it say you have only spent £X in order to qualify for free shipping you need to spend £100 a further £100-£X If you would like to continue shopping please click here (link back to shopping) or proceed and you will be charged the standard shipping rate. My thinking is that it will stop any problems in people thinking they are getting free shipping when they are not and might even persuade some customers to make bigger purchases to get them over the free shipping limit. I hope this makes sense.
burt Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Not only can it be done, it HAS been done. http://www.clubosc.com/how-much-to-spend-for-free-shipping.html
jigga1234 Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Thanks Burt I have made the changes suggested and this has had no effect at all? Will running sts and having the shopping cart in a template have any effects? Cheers
burt Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 STS should not have any effect. I take it that you realised that #2 says; 2. We know that the value of the free shipping in the order_total module is assigned to and there is a link to read more???? In other words, this modification depends upon the order_total free_ship module being turned on.
