midpen Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I prefer to inactive sold out products instead of deleting them. So that I don't need to upload them in the future when they are available again. If I check them as " Out of Stock" products, they are still showing as soldout products in the store. I want the soldout products to be inactive. Do not show them to customers at all and it will be easy to turn on later. Is it possible and how to do it? Thanks.

As standard osC will not show products with a Out of Stock status (not the same as stock quantity = 0) Therefore your store has been modded to show them, remove that mod, or perhaps its in a template, if so speak to the providor. Then I suspect that is your problem, after all its says its to show Out of Stock products!! If it helps my listing contrib will automatically remove any add to cart if there is zero stock. It is working fine but lost the inactive function I believe.

It is working fine but lost the inactive function I believe. You are mixing up methods, by default, if a product has zero stock but has a status of 'In Stock' it will be shown but get that message. If a product has a status of 'Out of Stock' it will not be shown, regardles of stock level. There are hundreds of products in the store, it is very possible you did not change the products to "out ot stock" on time. when the stock level is under 0, customers are still able to ckeckout, it will be a big trouble. after I added that addon on, I don't need to worry the stock level. But I did not realize it will not be able to inactive a product.

When you click "checkout" in the shipping_cart page, it still goes to next page (checkout_shipping page). Once you click "continue" in the checkout_shipping page, it goes back to the shopping_cart page. Yes it is finally unable to checkout, but should not be that back and forth. and the product did not automaticaly turn to "out of stock", it is still " in stock" and the quantity is 0.

There is no test for quantity = 0, the change is done in checkout process (ie payment complete) when the stock is subtracted, if remaining stock is then zero change the status, for your other issue, perhaps best to mod the cart so if quantity in cart is greater than stock, cart quantity is set to stock level. midpen Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 I remember I setup a item quantity 3, I cheched out 4 times, untill the quantity reduced to -1, it was still "in stock", unless you manually change it.
