I'm stuck, please help

Im trying to move a zen cart mod to oscommerce, heres the code i'm trying to find for oscommerce:

 

$product_to_categories = $db->Execute("select master_categories_id from " . TABLE_PRODUCTS . " where products_id = '" . $id . "'");

$category = $product_to_categories->fields['master_categories_id'];

return $category;

}

I know the $db->execute gets changed to tep_db_query but master_categories_id?
