itbejared
does anyone know of any way to give a full list of all your products alphabetically? I have done a search and haven't found anything on this. just curious if this is possible or not. just to be able to click somethign like a "view alphabetically" like and show all your products like A, B, C, so on and so on
Guest
I know there are a couple of 'show all' contributions. One of them is called allprods which is a single file .. allprods.php text only that displays in the store example: http://www.bodytemple.net/store/allprods.php and the other catalog_anywhere catalog.php images display on separate pages example: http://www.bodytemple.net/store/catalog.php .. but out of the box I think it is random display. I imagine you could set the 'order by' to be ASC or DESC though If you can't find them in the contributions, pm me and I will get them to you. itbejared
hey thanks a million for the info! those are both great contribs. but I have over 850 different products that I am working with. Actually I am selling magazine subscriptions and was wanting to also have customers be able to view them alphabetically. Like click on the 'A' to view all the mags that start with 'A' and so forth. thanks for the info though.. Muchly appreciated! :D
itbejared
Does anyone know how hard this would be to make possible? Have an page that lists all your products from A to Z and you can click the corresonding letter to see all the products that start with that letter? Guest
I have about 2500 products in my store (Perfumes and Colognes) I have them ordered alphabetically by having created Subcats called A B C D etc. The was fairly easy to do with the EasyPopluate contribution and excel. (would take HOURS to do it manually) However the problem I now have is the amount of time it takes to dynamically generate the Cat Menu. I have turned the Cache on (which is only in mid-development, there are non functioning functions in it...) With a bit a screwing around I've got it to run only marginally painfully slow, but nowhere near acceptable. How is yours running with that many products? http://www.cologne.com/catalog/ is the dev page Any help would be mucho appreciated and returned in kind jb
mugitty
Billy; The first thing you should do is turn OFF the recursive counts on your categories menu - that alone is slowing you down a LOT!!! Look here for how to: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php...ursive+count%2A Quote ... if you want to REALLY see something that doesn't set up right out of the box without some tweaking, try being a Foster Parent! Ajeh
That is the fun of oscommerce ... I started out wonder how the heck to install and load the dang MySQL table ... And the next week started working on the Free Call for price program 'cause I hated seeing $0.00 all over. Talk about a learning experience. I couldn't write a lick for the Admin to save my life ... but I could make the Catalog do tricks. Now, over a year later ... I am writting on both sides ... and sometimes, it even works ... 8)
itbejared
wow... its been some time since I have been in here... I got discouraged and haven't been working on my site for some time now. But now I am ready to get back into the game. I think that something like trying to make an alphabetical product listing is a little over my head of a newbie to this all... but I am willing to dabble in little and see what happens...
