category and subcategories question

hello I'm a newbie with OSC and I've a big problem:

I create a category called "BOOK" and 2 subcategories called "A" and "B". If I want to add a book in both subcategories the TOTAL on category "BOOK" is 3! and not 1! I think because is 1 for BOOK, 1 for "A" and 1 for "B". Is there any way to have this:

Book (1)

A (1)

B (1)

 

And if I want to add an other book that is only on category A:

 

Book (2)

A (2)

B (1)

 

I hope that my problem is clear...
