Rather than simply soliciting reviews on the product pages, I am thinking about refining the system, displaying the Submit a Review option ONLY TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE PURCHASED THAT ITEM. 1. A user purchases a product. 2. 2 weeks later (or any length determined by Admin), they receive an email. In it they're asked if they got the product, what they thought of it, and whether they would consider authoring a review. A link is provided to author the review. 3. If the user were to visit a product page of any product that they have ordered (x days after shipment), they will have the option to Submit a Review of that product. 4. Upon their submission of a review, it goes to Admin, who approves or disapproves. 5. Approval results in an email to the user which contains a coupon code as a thank you. Thoughts? I have a number of things on my to do list before I can think about this, but any thoughts or direction of how to start will be appreciated. Ian Posted March 5, 2003 Share Posted March 5, 2003 I'm have a lot of the code done now for the new Credit Class/GV/Discount coupon code (v5). Thomas Plankers sent me some code which would automatically send a Gift Voucher to a customer when they first signed up. This led me to thinking that building in a couple of functions into the new system would be useful for other contributors. Basically you would have two functions. 1 to send a GV and another to send a coupon code. Other contribution writers could then simply call 1 of these functions to trigger the email saving them the work of having to write code to manipulate gv/discount coupon db tables. I think that anything that get's people to sign up (tell them they will get a coupon) and keep's them coming back, without being obnoxious is a good idea.
