Problem adding menu links

Recommended Posts

I'm having a problem adding menu links to information pages.

What I'd like to do:

Create a third menu on the left that sits in between the two standard menu boxes, similar to the information box.

What I've tried:

1. Searching the forum

2. Contributions - couldn't get them to work

3. I've tried to add links on the information menu and then add a page based on the built in contact_us.php page. I copied the file (in the includes/languages/english as well) then edited the content, and name. Basically tried to emulate the code, but it doesn't work!

Suggestions anyone?

I've been considering outsourcing some php programming for this, as I know very little php, but I'll see if I can resolve it here.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you should strongly consider this, and see if they will mentor you so that you can do future edits by yourself.

There are a few tutorials in the knowledge base but it sounds like you have been there. You first need to create a box, then create the items in the box. It's not really that complicated but one missed step makes for a frustrating day.

1. Create the box using an existing box as format.

2. Add box to column_left.php

3. Add title to box in english.php

4. Add menu item.

5. Do you need to create a page for that menu item? Add to folder english, filenames.php, folder catalog..

Hmph...maybe missed a step there, this is from memory and you shouldn't do that...
