Integrate shop with other links

I'm trying to work out whether it's feasible to incorporate things into my site in addition to the shop. For example, it would be nice to have a section with a picture gallery. My shop has been set up in the common way, under /catalog. This means that I could potentially have a home page with links to the shop as well as links to a gallery and other things.

However, I am worried about maintaining the ocsid if I do this. Am I correct in assuming that the whole site needs to have an "awareness" of the ocsid? Otherwise if a customer jumps from the shop to the gallery they can (potentially) lose their shopping cart and login?

I'd appreciate any advice, and thank you in advance for your time!

Put everything (gallery, etc.) in the same folder as the store.

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
