next and previous buttons to browse products?

Okay so I have over two pages of products on one of my categories

where there are buttons for first page second page etc.

Can I get rid of this and replace it with just Next and Previous hypertext?

I know the code to do this is in split_page_results.php

how can it be altered to just display previous and next buttons to go through the products?

The proper place to change the Next Prev (unless you know php) is in your language file english.php look at lines 237 down.

how do i set it then that it is possible to only have a NEXT and PREVIOUS link not pages 2,3,4,5,6 etc
