product listing description length

Hi

 

I would like to know where the length of the product description preview is determined.

By this I mean the description that is shown when you click on a category and all the products are shown underneath each other.

 

I would also love to know where I can find the img style attributes that go with the add to cart and continue buttons on that same page. There is a padding-bottom:5 that I really would love to get rid of. No sign of it in the stylesheet.
