ricktbo
Hello, I tried to install a template over a current oscommerce (just with FTP I did not do the install process) and did not transfer the config file so that it would not overwrite my config. Nothuing happened except now when i try to go to my admin page it says unable to connect to database. It didnt even change how it looks. I have 2 questions about this... #1 Any ideas on how to fix the database error? #2 if I do a full install of a template does it erase my current DB info like my customers and products? Thanks for any help you can give me with this.

Ben Nevis
A template cannot do anything to the database just by ftp-ing it up, and whether a template does anything to a database if it is installed depends on what the template is and what you mean by a 'template'. The connection parameters are in the configure files anyway so if you did not overwrite these then it should at least connect, unless the template you have uploaded has prevented the configure file information from being included. I suggest you start by telling us the name of the template, and reading the installation instructions yourself to see what you were supposed to do to install it. www.jyoshna.com. Currently using OsC with STS, Super Download Store, Categories Descriptons, Manufacturers Description, Individual Item Status, Infopages unlimited, Product Sort, Osplayer with flashmp3player, Product Tabs 2.1 with WebFx Tabpane and other bits and pieces including some I made myself. Many thanks to all whose contributions I have used!
