Apparently my son has been selling some things on ebay, he isn't 18 so he is not supposed to be on there in the first place. He set up the account in his name and everything, he only lied about his birth year and he used a gift card credit card for the card on the account. But anyways he was trying to sell some sewn NFL jerseys by dropshipping them from some company. Ebay took down the listings because apparently they were counterfit and about a week later he recieved a letter in the mail saying that he has to pay the Adidas company $950.00. Is this possible for a company to collect money from a kid under the age of 18 even though on ebay he lied about his age.

You'll need to talk to a lawyer about that, but my understanding is that a minor cannot enter into a legally binding contract on their own (they need you to cosign). That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Adidas goes after you (the parent) if they can't collect from your son. I'm not a lawyer, but you'll probably find it cheaper to settle and pay the bill rather than run up court costs. Then you can take the $950 (or some lower figure you can settle on) out of your son's assets (savings, car, college fund, whatever) to teach him a lesson about lying and shady activities.

I am not a lawyer either and in any case the law regarding liability of minors or parents liability for actions of their children will vary from country to country and in the US, quite possibly from state to state. I do like Phil's suggestion of taking it from your son's pocket money as a lesson, and he is correct that you could quite possibly spend more on legal fees consulting about it and having letters written even without it going to court if you do consult a lawyer than if you just settle it, but I would start by simply writing them a letter explaining the situation, ie that your son is a minor and has no money to pay, if he doesn't. This will be more convincing if he wasn't doing it for very long and didn't have many sales, which you can also explain. If he was actually doing quite well out of it, and didn't lose it all by having to refund his customers, then that puts a different complexion on it - and maybe he can pay out of his profits too!
