Total noob with OSC, where to begin?

Hi folks,

I'm a total noob with OS Commerce implementation, although I have used the CMS side of things commerically. I'm a software developer, and have started developing an e-shop with xhtml/php/mysql etc but OS Commerce seems like it could be a better route as I wouldn't need to develop the CMS for my client!

So where to I begin? I see the installation guide stickied at the top as quite straightforward, but I have questions:

-Does OSC replace all of my development and build front end layouts, databases, cms etc?

-Or does it just supply a database with cms, and I integrate it into my current page design in xhtml/css?

Can anyone understand where I'm a bit confused as to where OS Commerce comes in? I can't get my head around if it is a total solution, or an integrated addition to current page development?

Any help setting me straight would be grand, thanks.

Bert.

Cheers Spooks, I'll look over it all tonight after work. Could we keep this thread open in case I have some questions?
