Add new field to manufacturers

I need to add a new field to manufactures, I want to insert the initials of the manufacturer, for example:

 

Manufacturer: Hewlett Packard

Initials: HP

 

Could any body help me?

Hello, I know this contribution but it's to add a new field in the product page, product listing, advance search, I need to add it to manufacturers.
