osCommerce not showing correctly

First of all, hello to everyone here! it's glad to be part of such a nice community. osCommerce is great, easy and simple, I'm a PHP beginner and I have learned alot with it.

I write here because in my own PC my site shows good, on both ways http://localhost/site and http://IP/site, everything works perfectly.

But when I give link to my friends, it doesn't show correctly, I am talking about that it only shows the index but without ANY image, and all links are broken.

If you ask me about permissions, I am running on Windows Apache server and I havent been able to connect thru ftp to set them, but either way I think they are all 777 (I know its not secure blah blah, I just want to make sure the site works everywhere).

So umm, what do you guys think it could be?, remember it works perfectly on my localhost, but when I give link out, everything breaks down :(

Sorry for my english and thanks again.

You probably haven't uploaded the entire site to your server. You say you've been unable to connect thru FTP? How did you upload what you have?

Solve the FTP problem (call you host if necessary), then compare the file structure on your "localhost" to what is loaded on the server (http://IP/site). If the files are there, then take a look at how your links to images & other pages are configured.

You'll figure it out..

Are you trying to run this site on your own PC's server (WAMPP package?) or on a commercial host? If it's on your own server, is it accessible via IP address from the outside world? Is that IP address fixed, or does it change every day? Is it configured (configure.php files) to use the IP address rather than the "localhost" name for the server? Can you make a simple "Hello World" HTML page and get it to work for your friends? Add in a link and an image, and see if it still works. Does it still work the next day, after your IP address has changed?

By the way, it's a bad idea to run a website from a PC. You're not an experienced webmaster, so your server WILL be hacked. It's quite a bit of work to properly secure a server. Also, when your ISP gets wind that you're running a server on a home or small business service, they'll cancel you (unless your service agreement explicitly permits servers).

Thank you both guys.

MrPhil you were right, my directories were set on localhost, I just changed it to my IP.

Side notes:

-yes I know it's not secure I am just testing the whole site before buying a domain & hosting server.

-Yes my IP is dynamic, changes like everyday, lol
