Hi,

Having spent some time securing my site, Now I have started to ensure that I comply with the regulations regarding personal data.

There is a good UK Gov site for this with many guides and even an online checklist / assessment section.

See it Here or an online guide to Collecting personal information using websites is Here.

Hope this is helpful to some.

Thanks

Now running on a fully modded, Mobile Friendly 2.3.4 Store with the Excellent MTS installed - See my profile for the mods installed ..... So much thanks for all the help given along the way by forum members.

you need describe the reason and usage of collection personal data, usage of cookies and collect and keep the data very secure.

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

Well, IANAL etc but it appears to me that operators of small businesses do not need to register with the DPC if the only things they do with the data they hold is to use it for things like marketing their own business to their customers and managing the supply and delivery of their products and services, ie:

"YOU DO NOT HAVE TO NOTIFY IF THE *ONLY PROCESSING YOU CARRY OUT IS FOR ONE OR MORE OF THESE PURPOSES:

Staff Administration

Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations

Accounts and Records

Accounts and Records

"keeping accounts relating to any business or other activity carried on by you, or deciding whether to accept any person as a customer or supplier, or keeping records of purchases, sales or other transactions for the purpose of ensuring that the requisite payments and deliveries are made or services provided by you or to you in respect of those transactions, or for the purpose of making financial or management forecasts to assist you in the conduct of any such business or activity.

This exemption covers the administration of customer and supplier records.

It includes processing relating to making a decision about whether or not to do business with a particular customer or supplier but specifically excludes personal data processed by or obtained from a credit reference agency."

(From the online self-assessment questionnaire at the ICO.)

Of course, voluntary registration can be done and there is still a need to be compliant with the Data Protection principles.

Currently using OsC with STS, Super Download Store, Categories Descriptons, Manufacturers Description, Individual Item Status, Infopages unlimited, Product Sort, Osplayer with flashmp3player, Product Tabs 2.1 with WebFx Tabpane and other bits and pieces including some I made myself. Many thanks to all whose contributions I have used!
