Image re-sizing of products

Hi can anyone help please.

 

I have installed the oscthumbs contrib to display my products images in a thumbnail. The problem i am having is due to some images being too big in res and dimensions i.e width, height etc the images are being displayed either too stretched or not clear. How would i or is there a method in oscthumbs where it can keep the original res and calculate the actual image res and adjust accordingly the height and width so that the images remain clarity.
