Sundowner Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Hi all, i am new with OSC but i managed to do most changes till now. Now i have stuck to something i thought it was quite easy as i have worked in the past and i have some knowledge. The problem is that whatever changes i do to the stylesheet do not affect the site at all. I make the changes i save the file and OSC site remains the same nomater what i do to the stylesheet. I even erased it but nothing changed on the site!! Could you please tell me what im doing wrong? cheers.

If you really truly erased a stylesheet and nothing changed, then you must be working on the wrong file. Impossible to say precisely what the malfunction is without your URL. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. Sundowner Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 I know it sounds crazy ... The shop is not online yet, i'm building it on my PC using XAMMP. The file which im making the changes is located in the catalog/stylesheet directory. I assume that's the correct file.. Despite the fact that this happens with the stylesheet the site is running perfectly on my local host and i allready removed some boxes and changed the sizes of them. Any thoughts?

Default osC doesn't have a "catalog/stylesheet directory". Refer your questions/problems to your template provider. Sorry, it was just a typing error. I am actually using default OSC, but because i was developing in Opera that's why i couldn't see the changes. For some reason Opera doesn't react on the changes of the stylesheet. I tested with IE and Firefox and everything is fine. Do you have any idea why this happens with Opera? Cheers, Sundowner.

Well, I'm glad to hear you overcame the problem. Kudo's to you! Opera is one browser I've never used. I have IE7 (still afraid to make the leap to IE8) and Firefox 3.0 (heard about bugs in 3.5 so i'm shying away from that one yet as well). I used to develop more web pages a few years ago and I used to have 3 versions of Netscape installed (talk about a tough browser to satisfy - NETSCAPE!!!!). I do know this about IE and Firefox, sometimes after changing the stylesheet in order to see any change you have to hold the <Ctrl> key down while doing a page refresh in the browser to force the browser to reload all contents from the server, including the newly changed stylesheet. That may apply to Opera as well. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
