create account page doesn't work any more

I entered myself into the create account page a few days ago while I was messing around with all the phps getting the display that way I wanted, then this morning I deleted myself with the administration tool. Now I can't enter myself again. I keep getting the page that says "there must be a minimum of..." for all the entry boxes -- apparently nothing is getting thru to the database.

 

Also when I type in the password, I don't get the dots, but letters.

 

I re-installed onto the server the original create_account.php that I saved when I unpacked the crate, and I still get the same results.

 

Any idea what happened?

It's something I did while messing with the html_output.php file. Reinstalling that one brought back the dots and the signup capability.
