inferno272 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 i've got a stupid problem, and i know its probably a simple fix, but my brain isn't working right now so i could use some help. I'm having issues with the "small images" that are being displayed...i have some images that are really tall, some images that are really wide, etc. The problem i have is that if i set a max width and no max height, i get some images that are just RIDICULOUSLY tall. if i do vice versa, i get RIDICULOUSLY wide images, and if i set both, then i get retarded squashed looking images. I know 1 option is to manually resize all the images, but 1) that is time consuming with over 1000 products listed on my site, and 2)high image quality is necessary to show packaging, etc. so..is there anyway to get the system to like, choose which one is best? for really wide images, it can set a max width, for really tall images it can set a max height....if im making any sort of sense...
jhande Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Unfortunately you'll have to manually resize some of the images. You will have to pick and decide whether all the image heights should be the same or the width. Let's say you have the least amount of images that need the height adjusted, resize the height, set the height in Admin Panel and leave the width blank. I know all to well how time consuming editing images are. I use Photoshop and create a seperate thumbnail and large image for each product. But I also make each thumbnail the same size and each large image the same size. It gives a nice consistant look to the site. - :: Jim :: - - My Toolbox ~ Adobe Web Bundle, XAMPP & WinMerge | Install ~ osC v2.3.3.4 -

inferno272 Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 is there a way to mass resize images?
spooks Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 is there a way to mass resize images? You can use a thumbnailer contrib, like osCThumb, to create thumbnails automatically @ yor set sizes, but u still must set fixed width, or height. It would be possible to code smthg to do as you've said, but that would be bespoke for u, so you wont find it in contribs. If u have photoshop, it has a batch option, there is a topic in tips on using it. Sam Remember, What you think I ment may not be what I thought I ment when I said it.
