delta_blues Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Big Brother is watching you. His name is Google... A few thoughts. In one of my recent posts. I was surprised and somewhat shocked, by responders insisting to the point of demanding that I follow Google guidelines . Over three quarters of web surfers aren’t aware of the fact that Google records and stores information that may recognize them. Google maintains a lifetime cookie that expires in 2038, and records the user’s IP address. But, more recently, it has begun to incorporate services which record the user’s personal search history, email, shopping habits, and social contacts. If you use Gmail, then Google owns all of your email files both incoming and out-going including the email address of your contacts. After initially promising not to tie its email service to its search service, Google went ahead and opted its users in anyway. It’s all part of CEO Eric Schmidt’s promise to create a “Google that knows more about you.” You use UTube? Google owns it... Google Owns a Search Engine Optimization Company. When Google purchased DoubleClick earlier this year, as part of that package they also got the SEO Company Performics, who was a wholly owned subsidiary of DoubleClick. It seems that Google could be accused of playing favorites to Performics and that could give them a definite advantage over other SEO companies. After all, if you wanted to have the best chance of a successful SEO campaign, wouldn’t you hire the SEO Company owned by the most popular Search Engine? Even if Google comes out and states that they are in no way helping Performics with any “insider” information, just the fact that Performics is owned by Google would seem to give them some serious clout in comparison to other SEO companies. Everyone is interested in ranking on Google because it is the Internet’s most used Search Engine. However, Google is interested in selling PPC advertising to companies who want to achieve high rankings. They want companies to setup Adwords accounts and then pay to be listed in “Sponsored Links” section of the SERPs. So, when a company ranks well in the free organic results, Google does not get paid. Until now, it would appear. Matt Cutts announced that Google is now encouraging fellow webmasters to snitch upon one another about the use of text link ads (either buying or selling) via the Authenticated Spam Report found in Google’s Webmaster console. This raises all sorts of controversy in the community, having to do with a combination of issues. Among these are the facts that he calls “paid text links” spam, and that he asks webmasters to rat one another out about what is decidedly a gray area, rather than a black and white one. There are many reasons to buy text links on another site. This is clearly demonstrated by the fact that the practice (much like the sister practice of exchanging links) completely pre-dates Google as a search engine. Google is dangerous to any company, town or country. They can control the results of any search. They have put many companies out of business for doing exactly what they do. They are self-professed Gods of the Internet. Just lately... Google gets a computer Google gets Mobile (Android) Google gets Social (OpenSocial) Get's thinks about TV .... (2x) Google thinks Magazines Basing your whole business on how Google feels is just stupid. Best Regards, Robert Your identity is a figment of your imagination…
