Product_List editing gave 404 error

Hi Guys/Girls,

 

Today, I decided to look into the product_list.php file.

 

I was experimenting, becouse I'm new to this osCommerce shop.

 

The only thing I did was, deleting 2 lines. When i changed back those lines,

i trying to view products on the website, and than an error accured, where it ways:

 

Internal Server Error

 

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

 

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

 

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

 

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

 

What could be the problem? I hope that u can help me.

Solved.

 

What is did was I used the the online admin panel to loade files up with. Fixed it with direct server/ftp uploading.

 

The permission numbers where changed from 644 to 777. :-)

 

644 was the right number.

Just a note: you did not get a 404 error on the .php file. You got a 500 (internal server) error due to the disallowed 777 permissions (see http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/345637-internal-server-error/page__view__findpost__p__1442374). Then the server looked for your custom 500 error handler (error page), and not finding one, threw a 404 error for that.

 

To minimize the number of unnecessary error messages cluttering up your account log, you should supply a set of Error Pages for your account: /400.shtml, /401.shtml, /403.shtml, /404.shtml, and /500.shtml at a minimum, along with a /robots.txt and a /favicon.ico. If you have cPanel, it has a button to produce the *.shtml Error Pages ("Error pages") -- you can customize them all you want with additional HTML code. /robots.txt can be empty until you figure out what you want to put in it. Any "paint" program can produce a favicon for you (16x16 ICON format).
