Creating a cache folder in public html/shop

I had a cache folder in public html/shop/cache on another site that would cache all the shop pages visited so each page would load faster after it has been visited once. I know you cant just make a new folder named cache to have it work, there is a certain way to set it up. So my question is how do i create a file folder named cache that will cache all the pages viewed on my site for faster upload time.
