attributes are adding weight somehow

if a product has attribute option, and when i checkout it adds weight some how, im not sure why this is happening. The product itself is set at 0 so that it can be applied for free shipping, when theres no attributes used and the weight is set at 0 it will go directly to payment option.

 

can anyone help me on this??

 

basically if you want to reproduce the problem, try these steps:

 

set the weight of your product to 0, ups/usps module set, dont add an attribute and checkout. The item will go directly to checkout payment page

 

now if you add an attribute say you want a black color or red color, just add an attribute option. on the product info page if you click and choose the option finish click to checkout and it will now show that your on the shipping page of checkout. I did notice however some how its calculating the weight at 0.1lbs usps even if you have the weight at 0, while ups just shows an error.

 

in previous versions of oscommerce, i had this working before where i can basically have the item go directly to payment checkout page when putting the item weights to 0.

To skip the shipping modules, you need to enable the free shipping and you will skip the shipping page.

I have just the opposite problem but couldn't figure out how to use the post backwards to solve my issue.

 

I need to add weight to certain items in the product attributes section. I am using USPS for mailing, not sure if that makes a difference.
