fasterisbest Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Hello Forum, I can seem to locate the answer to this question. Hopefully one of the OsCom super powers can led me in the right direction. I want to be able to create a different shipping table for different provinces/states. For instance, the company is based in Toronto, Ontario and I would like different shipping costs for orders sent to each province. Furthermore, we ship to the US. I need to set up similar table for this. Can anyone recommenced an add-on? OR can I do this without an add-on? OR is there any threads with this information already posted? Thanks heaps.

All the taxes can be done via the admin panel. On the left, open up the section "Locations/Taxes". Assuming all taxes for canadian provinces will be the same, create a folder named "Canada" under the "Tax Zones" section. Open that folder and insert each canadian territory. Next, click the "Tax Rates" option. Create a new tax rate, select the "Canada" Tax Zone and fill out the tax rates. Now for any items you want to charge tax put it under the Taxable Goods category.
Guest Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I am confused, I think Jamie was talking about shipping not taxes. Did I read this wrong ? Chris

burt Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 1. A slight amendment to zones.php will allow you to use the states of canada rather than the countries of the world. It's really not difficult, I'm sure I covered it (or something very similar) previously, have a search. Set the zones module to only show for canadian zone only. 2. whichever shipping module suits best for your charges to USA, possibly table rates, or flat, or whatever. Set for USA shipping zone only. When you set a shipping method to a particular zone, they only show if the shipping address is within that zone. Hence a buyer from Toronto, but shipping to LA would only see #2 (as per above). If the shipping address was in Cabbagetown for example, he'd only see #1 (being as the shipping address is in Canada - and hence he'd get charged Ontario rates).
fasterisbest Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 Thanks for the input. Try a contribution likes this one: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2571 With this add-on, I assume all the files are put/changed in the admin folder, is this true? Thanks
