Attribute part numbers

I have many clothing items in my store, and my warehouse has different part numbers for each attribute for each item.

 

In other words, if a particular shirt is sold in colors of red, white and blue and size of small medium and large, there are actually 9 part numbers that I have to select from depending on which color or size that the customer orders.

 

I do not want to have 9 separate listings for each item, so I have made a generic part number for the shirt, and made the attributes take care of the color/size question.

 

The issue is, that when I go to order from the warehouse, they will want the exact part number.

 

Is there a contribution or something sort of lookup table that I can use to automatically adjust the part number on the packing slip so that the warehouse has the correct information?

 

I know that there are many clothing sellers out there, how has anyone solved this problem? is everyone manually changing the part number when they get an order?
