stabes Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 We have been running OSC since 2004 unchanged. We don't even know which version would have been around then. We have since started having a few issues with it, and so thought it best to upgrade. Presently, the installation is at /catalog A few questions: 1. Does a new installation have to be placed in a folder /catalog? We were thinking about changing the it to store or shop. 2. If we can install the new version of OSC in a new folder name, can we still access the store's admin front end? How, seeing it will still be looking for a shop stored in the /catalog folder? 3. Presumably the DB's of our old version and the new version will be different. If so, how do we go about upgrading and configuring our DB to be able to work with the new installation? That's it for now. TIA. Mart
Xpajun Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 1. It can be placed in a folder/directory of your own chosen name or can be run in your root directory 2. Links to admin and front end are set in the configure.php files for both admin and front end 3. You'd have to compare the old and the new adding what you need from the old to the new. I'm guessing that you may have a modified store in operation at the moment - if so I would probably upgrade by installing a new store in the named folder of your choice, opening a new database for it as well. Then put on all the add-ons I needed getting it working and looking as I wanted. Then back up my old database and upload it to the new one this should be the only problematic bit as your old database tables will have to match the new tables. If you have a large existing database you may want to add the missing fields to the old database before backing up; or else you could add the missing fields to each record on the back up by adding '', in the appropriate places My store is currently running Phoenix 1.0.3.0 I'm currently working on 1.0.7.2 and hope to get it live before 1.0.8.0 arrives (maybe 🙄 ) I used to have a list of add-ons here but I've found that with the ones that supporters of Phoenix get any other add-ons are not really neccessary
