New Zealand GST

Hi there

 

I'm trying to set up the tax rate/GST. I've searched previous posts on this topic but i'm still a bit confused and i'm not sure if i've set it up properly. The GST rate for New Zealand is 12.5%.

 

These are the figures showing in checkout on my website for a $50 item:

 

Sub-Total: $50.00

GST: $5.56

Total: $50.00

 

Is this correct? I would have thought it should be $6.25. But I'm pretty hopeless with numbers.

Hi Cherry,

 

Yes, the GST quoted in your sum is correct.

 

$6.25 would be added if you were charging $50 plus GST.

 

 

Ugh, I hate GST. Mind you, at least when you buy something in NZ, you know the tax inclusive price in the stores on the ticket. In the US, most of the time you find out the tax at the checkout.
