Problems on IE (catalog doesn't show) fine on fireforx

hi

i'm new to the forum and not the best on oscommerce.

i usually work with zencart, but decided to take another step and start on oscommerce. although im not being any luck :/

almost finished my store and everything was working fine, till i tested it on internet explorer. for some WEIRD reason it only shows my topbanner. no idea why!. it simply works perfectly on firefox, and i cant even imagine re-doing it all over again because this damn thing isnot workin on ie.

because ive downloaded and replaced the index.php with a new and clean one and it still wont work on ie for some reason :'(

Most likely it is not a problem with your index page.

You can clean up your stylesheet.css for one, but I don't think it will fix the problem:

When I try your page on IE6, I get a warning that my browser doesn't allow ActiveX controls (and nothing shows). There is full source for the page, but my browser security settings are blocking me from seeing anything. Have you checked your IE browser's security settings? You may have to loosen your security settings, or remove some content (ActiveX).

I'm guessing it has something to do with the flash code.

I saved the HTML source from the main page, commented out the 3 flash portions, then opened it locally with IE7 and I get a lot more content.

That being said, I'm no flash ex-spurt, so I don't have a clue what the problem actually is...

Does your Flash code or player use ActiveX internally? Are you able to play the Flash code alone on your browser, or do you get the same error? You could try pulling the Flash out into a test HTML page and see if you can display it. If not (but it will display on Firefox), it's the security settings in your IE browser. If you can display Flash code from other sites, maybe there's a way to recode your Flash presentation so that it doesn't use ActiveX? This might involve using a different Flash tool or editor than what you're using now (to create it).

hey guys, I'm having a similar problem with my website but i don't have flash on there so honestly im not even sure its a flash based problem. so anyways here is my problem:

I basically did the same thing cheese did.., built a website and just tested it on FireFox and now when i'm near complete and check it out in I.E. the page is all screwed up... have a look for yourselves:

as you can see everything works fine in FireFox. The problems that I will get in I.E. are:

1. Table width expands on all pages which throws off my entire website

2. Background "sky image" is in "top left" (in my css i have it set to be "top center")

3. My footer background image does not show (i think this is due to the bg image is set in html, not the css)

So.., not exact same problems but still the DAMN internet explorer is making my site look like shit. And here i am stuck not knowing what to do and like cheese i can't imagine redoing this whole thing. If anyone can help us out it would be much appreciated.

I brought up your site in both FF3.5 and IE6, and they were identical. Have you cleared your browser cache since making any changes? Are you on IE8? If so, try changing it to IE7 emulation mode. If that works, put this tag in the <head> section to force any IE8 browser to render in IE6/7 mode: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/347247-tep-image-button-problem-with-internet_explorer/page__gopid__1449869entry1449869 . There may be an add-on by now to insert that meta tag.

Also, your link text at the bottom is still blue, which is invisible against the blue sky. Consider changing the color to something contrasting with the blue.
