How to Send 304 header when if-modified-since is not supported?

Hello,

i have latest 2.2 oscommerce store and i want to save bandwith from crawlers.

I want to implement 304 header if the page was modified. This header tells to the crawler that the page has modified and need to be reindexed.

Unfortunately my hosting does'nt support the apache if-modified-since header so i have to send via php.

It is possible for oscommerce to check the product modified date and send the 304 message?
