products by category and manufacturer

Hi,

 

i'm totally new to the subject, but i need to know how, if it's possible, to modificate i.e. manufacturers box to display both category dropdown and manufacturers dropdown, and to filter product by both selections.

I mean for example we have category cars and manufacturer bmw, i'd like to show only cars made by bmw. So far i got only to point where after category selection , manufacturers dropdown is filled only by manufacturers which have products from this category, but after choosing manufacturer i'm still getting all of his products. I know that this is problem with $_GET var because it doesn't contain both manufacturers_id and cPath, but how to do that in proper way?
