Guest Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Is it possible for me to import a newsletter Mac Pages or Iweb to the os commerce newsletter on my site or do I have to use their setup?
npn2531 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Yes can import anything into the newsletter manager, as long you are happy with it being rendered as text or html. To import an external newsletter as other than text, you need to have that newsletters html code. Plus if that external newsletter's html code references an external stylesheet or images you need to write those references as absolute http references in the html code which you import into the newsletter manager in OSCommerce (which is a perfectly good way to write a temporary newsletter), or import that stylesheet and images into your website and change the references as needed. One tip: Create a simple html webpage on your site and write or import the external newsletter to that page. Then use your html editor to get it looking right. Then put the entire html code on one loooong single line in the editor. Cut and paste that one line into your newsletter manager in OSCommerce. This will eliminate most of the unexpected line breaks and white space in the resulting newsletter. Guest Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Thanks, I think. Do you how of any tutorials that explain it step by step? Thanks for replying anyway.
npn2531 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Creating html emails can be tricky as what the email looks like on the receiving end depends on the email program installed on individual computers. I have complied about 6 links to various websites here: www.niora.com/epishire/ on the right sidebar under 'random links' that discuss some of the issues in detail, and provide a couple of tools for creating the newsletters in more email friendly ways.
