FCKeditor_problems Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Catastrophic server failure caused the loss of our osc installation, but fortunately the database is intact. I am in the processing of doing a new installation, but need to know the best way to associate osc with the old (existing) DB. If during installation I enter the old DB name, username, password - is that going to wipe it clean? Should I do new installation with new empty DB? If this is the best method, then what files would I need to change to associate it with the old (existing) DB? Any help would be appreciated.

FCKeditor_problems Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 hi once you have installed the shop just import the database then it should all be like it was before Thanks, airbrushmaster. A little clarification, please, to someone not very well acquainted with OSC: So I am to install using a new empty DB, and then in /admin there is an "import DB" link somewhere?
gregmaas Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 To airbrushmaster, Could you sent me the same explanation. I am trying to do the same thing - import osC data from a previous store into a new installation. I tried copying the data using phpMyAdmin, but the new store doesn't recognize the data. I suspect I have to do the import from within the new osC store, but I don't know how to do that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks gregmaas

Thanks gregmaas Gregmaas, Actually all I had to do was a new install of osC, and creating a new blank database. Then there were two configuration files to change - just changing the database name and details. I didn't import the database using phpmyadmin. It was quite simple - good luck.
