Wildturkey Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 HI guys hope someone can assist, We are currently running an OSC solution and it is performing very well, so well that we are wanting to extend our ecommerce business to another country. Currently we have a site on one domain, we would now like to duplicate the site to display on our Australian domain, retaining / sharing the same database etc... However there seems to be few issues!! -Prices on Australian websites are required to show the price inclusive of GST, our mother website does not. (can we get around this, maybe create another customer group etc..) -Can we share the same database from two seperate OSC installations? -How would we go about the installation onto the 2nd domain? Copy all files on server and re-direct to database, or do we need a fresh install and copy all tables from existing database into new DB. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I will answer what I can and give ideas for what I think should be done. Please do necessary backups before making any changes (especially one as big as this). 1) There is a contribution, seperate pricing per customer. This can probably help you with the Aus/US dollar prices. Found here http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,716 2) I believe you can share the same database. I've never tested it before but reading through the boards I believe I have seen other users post about doing this. Always remember though that if you make a change to one site most likely it will take place on both sites. This can be tricky if you want the sites to display different information. 3) Upload all stock OSC files onto the new site. Instead of doing a normal install (with OSC's install package), do a manual install of your site: Edit your configure.php files to point to the database. Over-write the stock OSC with your files to make sure all add-ons and pages load how you want them to. Here are some links on having two sites for one DB: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95677 http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=305329 Hopefully that can help you out a little bit, best of luck with the site!
