adding additional fields to products table

i am trying to add an additional field to my products table how would i need to do that and which files would i need to edit?

I did following: I took the contribution "products short description" that is adding a new field in the database + space in admin to add text + text displayed on product listing pages and I did the steps there for my purposes

where would i find "products short description" contribution?

Click on Add-0ns on the menu bar. (They have changed the name)

 

You could also try product extra fields.
