Hi

I would like to know if anyone has experience upgrading to php5 on an existing store.

It's a simple click on my cpanel to activate it but it does seem to have an effect on the .htacces files

Can anyone help with this and letting me know what I need to do to prepare for it.

I am doing this so I can add a contrib that helps create new pages on the fly in a new box. It requires php5 and the ckeditor which I haven't installed yet.

Thank you

very easy, simply patch with contributions which are available in contribution section of this website.

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

I had to upgrade from php4 to php5 and the site came up with a list of errors. I was able to do searches on the error text and in each case I found a relatively simple fix. But if there's a way for you to do it on a test site rather than having your live site down while you research them all, that would be better. The specific errors you get will depend on what contributions you have installed and what version of OSC you're using. So it's hard to be more specific than that. I can tell you it took me a couple of hours to fix everything - so not tragic.
