medisave
Hi, Just thought I would share a tip Quite recently I have just installed a second PCI graphics card in my PC which under Win XP (and 2k / me I think )drives a second monitor natively. I now have them both side by side and they act as one! I can open seperate windows in each drag and drop accross etc. Well I dont know how I did any work without this setup before - I AM SO MUCH FASTER it is untrue! My OSC site dev has never moved along so quickly! It is seriously the best money I have ever spent...forget about fast processors bigger HD if you are developing / web design then this will be the best money you ever spend! It also cuts down on frustration of closing / opening windws etc. Anyways just had to share that - probably many of you web designer types already run something like this but I thought I would post anyway as I cant believe I didnt do it earlier! Cheers, Graham Wright ________________
rossdev
I've been using a dual 19" monitor setup for a year now and I must say it does make life easier. Now I'm looking on adding a third monitor (15") to use as a web preview set at 800 x 600. :D Brian.
medisave
LOL 3 monitors - yes I could work even faster! just need a bigger desk. To be honest I was thinking of making a metal support around a large desk chair I have in a circular arrangement at eye level and then motorising the whole thing. Then 2 pedals at my feet can rotate the circular arrangement around my head as needed! I think I could probably get 6 or seven monitors around me. hmm how productive will i be! greree
Also, Linux Mandrake will detect a second video card and monitor. And you're right. Having two monitors does wonders for productivity.

Ian
You guys are seriously weird  As an aside, I've noticed the code seems a lot faster under MS1, can anyone else confirm this. Trust me, I'm an Accountant.
Christian Lescuyer
Many video cards now have two outputs. And yes, I work much faster with two screens, one for development tools, one for checking results. Also, having two 19" monitors is a better deal than one 21" Christian Lescuyer
greree
Ian, I'll let you know when I get it setup. And as for computer systems, I run two computers networked together with four monitors, one 21", two 19" and one 17". One of the computers has a swappable hard drive. I run Linux and XP on it. Linux is a much better development environment than Windows.
TB
I too use a multi-monitor setup... one 17" and one 15". I don't know how I ever functioned without this setup before! You can edit the source of your page on one screen, save it... refresh the other screen and you're done! What a beautiful concept... :D ** One thing to look out for, is that not all mulit-monitor cards (dual head, or to put it simple, one card that runs two monitors) function in dual monitor mode under Win2k, XP seems to run them fine though... I guess it depends on the quality of the drivers. "The price of success is perseverance. The price of failure comes much cheaper."
