Upgrade to 2.2 RC2a or Start Fresh?

I'm running OSC 2.2 MS2 and my host is upgrading to the latest versions of PHP and MySQL... My OSC store is heavily modified, with lots of add-ons and a fairly customized look, so I'm wondering if the easiest way to go about this is to make a new subdirectory that I can move to the root level later and do an entirely fresh install of 2.2 RC2a, modifying it how I need with fresh add-ons (and the shop needs a new look at this point anyhow). But if I do this, is there any way for me to copy over my massive products catalog and customer/order history so I don't have to re-input all of my products by hand or lose all of my order history? I'm using the custom imprint module for my old MS2 shop, so will this throw a wrench in things?

hi,

(Not sure what the custom imprint module is but...)

I managed keeping the order history/products etc by an upgrade.

Used this http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6467

Easy to test just do the new install in the subdirectory and create a new database in MySQL pull in the original database and run the upgrade.

Have also added the customer/products/order history manually in phpMyAdmin although here I had some minor problems with certain charactors ("inch etc)

To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.

Thank you! I'm going to give that a whirl... I wasn't keen on dinking around in phpMyAdmin trying to copy portions of the database!
