Leo1861 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Hi, Please excuse me, but I am completely new to this. After investigating a number of eCommerce software, I have decided on osCommerce. I have a multiple domains and hosting plans to experiment with. On one of the domains I downloaded a template loaded with osCommerce v2.2-MS2 install folder, which I have installed successfully into my Linux host. On another domain I requested my host provider to install osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 RC2a. The latter came with the standard template. However, I have discovered that there are a number of features available in v2.2 RC2a and not in v2.2-MS2, such as administrator list for example. My questions are: 1- How can I upgrade from v2.2-MS2 to v2.2 RC2a without affecting my template skin and setup? 2- Which files from v2.2-MS2 template can I copy to v2.2 RC2a hosting folder to achieve the same look of the template (skin)? 3- Which files that I can edit in, say Dreamweaver, so I can change the skin of an existing osCommerce based website? Many thanks, Leo1861
spax Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 1 and 2, Download RC2 and all the changes are documented within the package. http://www.oscommerce.com/solutions/downloads 3, You need to "skin" the root level files, includes/column_left.php, includes/column_right.php, includes/header.php and includes/footer.php. You won't be able to see your changes in Dreamweaver. For that, you either have to upload the changed files as you do them (very slow) or preferably, set up a local server using WAMP, XAMPP etc.
♥joli1811 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Hi, I found this very useful when upgrading the database. http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6467 John To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.
Jan Zonjee Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I found this very useful when upgrading the database. Perhaps, just perhaps, this contribution might be a tiny bit useful too.
