vinnie@krystal Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Hi can anyone help? I have installed my shop using ftp. However as i begin to install typing http://www.mydomain.co.uk/install/index.php i have the following errors: FATAL ERROR: register_globals is disabled in php.ini, please enable it! where do i enable the register_globals. Your help will be very much appreciated thank you if you can help.
spooks Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 u must be installing an outdated version, osC hs not needed rg on since 2.2 rc1, also rg on is a security risk (+ your host may not allow it) install osC2.2rc2a instead. If this is a template, ask the supplier for an updated version. Sam Remember, What you think I ment may not be what I thought I ment when I said it. spooks Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 hi spooks thank you for that its a template which am trying to install cant find no decent templates which are free out there. The majority of templates are ms2 based (which requires rg on) As I stated, for security & other issues I would advise against using it, can the supplier not upgrade, or r they no help at all (like most) You could to make it rg off compatible with Register Globals Easy http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/5729 Better still you could upgrade to the latest with Upgrading osC from 2.2 MS2 to 2.2 RC2a http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6654 But do u realy want to be doing that with a new purchase? Also unfortunatly templates often contain non-standard, out-dated code, so can be very difficult to alter except by the template writer. For the most part you need to be good at coding to fix/modify templates, but then if u were you would'nt have bothered with one. Also contribs are written for core versions & are rarely compatible with templates. So, templates give u a pretty store quickly, but do you really need the headachs that come them.? vinnie@krystal Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 Thinking about it you are right it will look very pretty but the headache of altering and editing will and is indeed making me think do i really require to go down that road. I will look in to the add-ons section. Thanks for your advice.
