Header Tags with STS is this even possible?

Running STS

Running Header Tag Control /Ultimate SEO

In HTC you can add tags that will dynamically cascade down the categories, manufacturers ect..

So I setup my HTC for my Index.php, then all my categories have the exact same Header Tags and Meta content.

I've spent the better part of 2 days to trying and figure this out. How do I get STS and HTC to give Categories their own specific information?

If you run a Outdoor shop, your homepage header tags and meta info would be very broad, but when you click on mountain bikes you don't want that same info sent, you want keywords and logic for mountain bikes to be the first thing search engines see, right?

I'm a little disheartened as I looked at STS contributor Bill Kellum and his website has the same issue, his header tag and meta information for his index.php page and category pages are identical.

As seen here:

http://soundsgoodpro.com/eshop/index.php

http://soundsgoodpro.com/eshop/index.php?cPath=21

Granted both pages are generated with the index.php code but the output should be category specific right? And shouldn't this include unique Header Tag / Meta information?

I would think that this would be a very important part of SEO for many shop owners and somebody probably knows how to get this to work. Though, I have seen many many many shops in the last few days that use the same Header Tags for both Index and their categories.

If you can point me to some documentation on this subject I would be glad to read it. I have no problem with that, I just have not been able to find a way to get my Category Header Tags and Meta (Keywords) to differ from that of my home page.

Do you mind posting a link to your shops with STS and HTC working? I would like to examine the data being displayed.

Thank you

Or if you prefer just a PM would be fine if you don't want to post the shop on the boards.

I've spent alot of time trying to get this working correctly and still get no title or keywords from my categories unless I cascade them from the index.php page.

You're help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Don

I don't actually think the site is live now - as in having actual products and such. I remember installing both though and seemed to have no problems when I turned it on in the admin panel. Have you run fill tags and all that?

Yes, I've run the fill tags, and Page control to try and manually set them.

All my categories display:

<title></title>

<meta name="Description" content="" >

<meta name="Keywords" content="" >

Even through I have manually and on the admin side set the data up. The only way I have found to get any data here is to use the Index.php data and cascade it through categories.

I found the problem, I had added the non-used STS code to the index.php and the product.php pages. I removed that and things seem to work correctly now.

Thanks for the help you two.

Don
