Manufacturers drop down box link change

Please can someone help me.

I have many manufacturers and products on my website www.mountain-marine.com

I have the standard drop down box for manufacturers on my index page, this all works fine and points to the products of which ever manufacturer you select.

However the standard link that it calls is index.php?manufacturers_id=(whatever the number for the correct manufacturer is in the database)

I have set up Manufacturer landing pages eg www.mountain-marine.com/henri-lloyd-information.php which allows the customer to get an introduction to the brand before viewing all the products.

How do i get my manufacturers drop down box to include the link henri-lloyd-information.php rather than the standard link it creates for me.

I have been trying to sort this out for a while now and am just getting more and more frustrated so any input would be great.

Hello

I think you need to create another row in TABLE_MANUFACTURERS with the names of the manufacturers archives.

Then, in includes/boxes/manufacturers.php find this:

  $manufacturers_query = tep_db_query("select manufacturers_id, manufacturers_name, from " . TABLE_MANUFACTURERS . " order by manufacturers_name");

and change for:

  $manufacturers_query = tep_db_query("select manufacturers_id, manufacturers_name, manufacturers_file from " . TABLE_MANUFACTURERS . " order by manufacturers_name");

(I call the new row "manufacturers_file", ok?)

and then, find this code inside the while

        $boxContent .= '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'manufacturers_id=' . $manufacturers['manufacturers_id']) . '">' . $manufacturers_name . '</a><br>';

and change it for:

$boxContent .= '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT.'/'.manufacturers_file) . '">' . $manufacturers_name . '</a><br>';

Try it. I don't test it. Remember for backup manufacturers.php.

thank you for your reply however this is still causing me problems.

Please find below my manufacturers.php file I can only find one reference to the code you have asked me to change.

I have created another field in my manufacturers table called manufacturers_landing and have assigned the file henri-lloyd-information.php for the manufacturer henri lloyd. Please can you have a look and tell me what I need to change.

Also could you tell me if i only have 7/8 manufacturers that I want to create a landing page for will I need to enter in the following in my sql under manufacturers_landing for all the manufacturers i dont have pages for.

eg Henri lloyd enter henri-lloyd-information.php I WANT THIS AS A LANDING PAGE>

crewsaver enter index.php?manufacturers_id=42 I DONT WANT A LANDING PAGE AND WANT IT TO STILL GO TO THIS LINK.

Your file is something diferent. The name of the var change. I don't now why

Anyway, the code to find is:

Hi thank you this has no effect.

I had already created a variable in my manufacturers table called manufacturers_landing before you mentioned manufacturers_file :)

I have pasted my complete manufacturers.php in a file above could you edit that so that I can just copy the new file into my site to see if I am making any errors trying to edit myself(your instructions are very good so its me).

Sure. Because we make it in the wrong place -> Display a list. Excuse me. :(

Several control + z or get the manufacturers.php backup.

Anyway I believe this solution is wrong. The idea was change the option value. But it is a parameter and then, the function tep_draw_pull_down_menu make error, because need an id.

We can make it more ease. Why don't one switch in the index?

Thank you for your time on this however I have no record of any code like

In my index.php file.

I have solved the solution temporarily by creating a drop down in Dreamweaver and then placing it in my standard template however I dont like the general look of this or the fact it requires yet another js file.

If you have any other ideas or would like me to post my index.php file on here so you can see it let me know.

Sod it I will put it down anyway.

THERE IS A PROBLEM.

Thank you for your response however I have now had a chance to look in more detail at the changes and there seems to be an error.

Everything is fine in the drop down box and the redirect does indeed toke you to the page that is specified(henri-lloyd-information.php)however this has now caused some problems.

My henri-lloyd-information.php contained a landing page that had links to 12 separate Henri Lloyd categories. and example of a link is...

http://www.mountain-marine.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=13&sort=5a&filter_id=344.

As you can see the link contains the address within index php however for manufacturers_id=13 i have the redirect that you gave me to go to henri-lloyd-information.php so no matter what link I click on it keeps redirecting me back to henri-lloyd-information.php.

Is there a way around this?
